When I first read this I thought the soldiers knew that Pip had helped out the escaped convict, but reading on I soon realized they didn't. So what I don't understand on this paragraph is what the soldier sayed at the end of it; what does what he said mean? What was he trying to say?
I think that they were basically just trying to say to not be scared and to get out of the way. I read this in a british accent and it seemed to make more sense, meaning that they have a certain way of saying things. Hopefully this helps you!

I think that the soldiers were in a rush, and worrying about Pip was just one more thing they didn't need on their hands. Good suggestion Emma, I'll do the same!
